Update

Sorry we haven't written in a while. Alan isn't feeling too well right now, but going good none-the-less. So far England reminds us of Oregon and Wisconsin put together. And now the leaves are starting to change colour. (yeah i know British spelling) Wendy is very upset right now since we are trying to keep her on her tummy so she can start crawling. She can get the knees under her, but she hasn't figured out to keep the upper body up. Jacob we found out has a heart mummer. It is benine which is a good thing. He is more than likely going to need surgery for his eye. However, it is going to be a non-evasive surgery, which relieves me quite a bit. We will find out for sure when we hear from the optomitrist during his appointment. Will let everyone know when and what happens.

Love to all,

Alan, Suzanne, Jacob and Wendy

failure

Well.....this blog idea seems to have failed miserably. I've decided that at the end of the year (beginning of new year actually) that I am going to take it over as just a personal blog site. If there are any objections let me know.....but I doubt there will be any 'cause I don't think anyone reads this anymore.

For Today.....Haven't done this in awhile

For Today....

Outside my window....Hot! In the 90's but 10 degrees cooler than the past few days.

I wish..... That the thunderstorms would just by-pass us. Very violent storms last night that never seemed to end.

I am thankful.... for our Pastor, Worship Pastor and entire church staff. They have amazing hearts of servantude (is that even a word?).

I know.....I'm not the best housekeeper or keeper of house, but I want to get better.

From the Kitchen.... Had our first batch of fresh green beans this week from our garden and had some beets last week that were brought from the valley. Yum!

Around the House.... let's not talk about this....it was clean last week cause I had visitors.

From the Schoolroom.... Summer break didn't last long. This month will be alot of shopping for supplies and filling out paperwork.

I am wearing.... My favorite green, black and white circle/dot dress that I got at a thift for $4. I get many compliments everytime I wear it. Not being vain, I promise.

I am creating.... I fail miserably on this every time.

I am praying.... prayers of praise this week for two miracle pregnancies and then praying for health for the precious mommy's-to-be.

I am hearing.... the air conditioner. It may be loud.... but when I hear it, it reminds me everytime, that God provides.

I am looking forward to.... the school year starting and my kids all experiencing different, new and exciting things this year.

Hello

Hello all,

Just wanted to right a quick note to let everyone know that we are doing good. Wendy has just been switched from Enfamile to Nestle Good Start for formula. I guess the other one was upsetting her tummy too much. She is also eating rice cereal (with the formula) and love pureed carrots, sweet potatoes and squash. Not a fan of peas though. But she is rolling from her back to her tummy at least on the floor. hasn't mastered from tummy to back yet. I will have new pics posted before we leave. Alan left for his seven level school today, so he will be gone for another three weeks or so. Then we will meet him up there on the 10th of Aug. Can't wait!!!! I still don't have my orders at this point in time, but the kids clearance is good to go. I just have to wait on someone else to actually put them into the system for me to actually print them out. But ENGLAND HERE WE COME!!!! Well first family then England. LOL But other than that, not much else is going on. I can't wait to see you all!

All our love,

Suzanne, Alan, Wendy and Jacob

Update

Not much is going on really. Wendy is smiling a lot more and is trying to laugh. She won't hold a smile for a pic though:) But we will leave for Wisconsin on the 14th ish of Aug. Alan comes home for a few days on the 15th of July. I still don't know what I am going to do for Jacobs b-day. Other than that not much else is going on. Working 430 in the morning stinks sometimes but it isn't bad. I get off at 130 in the afternoon.

I hope that everyone is doing well and I will post pics soon.

Love to all,

Alan, Suzanne, Jacob and Wendy

For Today.....

Outside my window....Partly cloudy, blue skies. We've had a rare amount of rain this June. It'd be nice to have a summer this year.

I wish..... That I had no regrets. I'd love to be one of those people that goes through life embracing and loving every moment and owning it.

I am thankful.... for work - jobs. Rod is working tons of hours this week at his "part-time" job. He's put in 39 hours in 3 days and has two more days to work still this week. Jared has, at the moment, 3 jobs for the summer. Praise the Lord! He still is working at the goat farm. And just yesterday he got a job at two different golf courses. One is a Forecaddie position at Pronghorn (he will make $75 for 18 holes!) and the other is at Eagle Crest in the "Cart Barn" cleaning the golf carts. He is very anxious to quit his farm job and I keep telling him to wait till we know how many days, hours he will be scheduled at these other jobs first.

I know.....that my Father loves me.

From the Kitchen.... Got lots of grilling on the menu this week. Now I just need my husband to grill it and the weather to stop raining and being windy so we can actually light the bbq and keep it lit.

Around the House.... actually making some progress here I am happy to report. For this week anyway. I'm tackling some piles in the garage in a moment.

From the Schoolroom.... Almost summer vacation! Jared is finishing his last assignment today and we have him registered to attend Redmond High School next fall. Rachelle and Raelyn finished school up on Wednesday. Rachelle is registered for next year with the online school Connections Academy. Raelyn is registered to attend Tumalo Community School. A small public "community" school with one 7th grade classroom that has only 28 students so far. I'd love to convince Rachelle to attend there as well for next fall. We'll see if we can get her to change her mind over the summer. Of course I could make her go, but I'd really like it to be her decision.

I am wearing.... Pink Roxy hoodie and green bermuda shorts and flip-flops.

I am creating.... Still trying to figure what I can create.

I am going.... to be busy this weekend running kids to all their activities. Jared has two golf tournaments, one on Sunday and one on Monday. The girls want to get together with friends and have a new project at church teaching sunday school to the younger kids. This is a "youth" project to give the regular teachers a day off now and then.

I am reading.... a very predictable murder mystery that I can't remember the name or author. I don't even know if I'm gonna finish it.

I am praying.... One daily prayer of mine is to pray that my children make good decisions.

I am hoping.... that the thunderstorms will stop.

I am hearing.... the sound of a spoon scraping the side of a bowl as someone eats their breakfast while watching a muted television. It's still early here so the tv is turned down low.

I am looking forward to.... this summer and all the exciting activities planned and unplanned that will happen. Watching my garden grow - the deer have not been able to get in this year so far. Jared getting his drivers license.

Juliene

Garden Art

I love my fishy! And see the fence? No deer in there, so far, this year. That fence is a good eight feet high. Lets hope that we can eat our garden goodies this year and not just grow them for the deer.

for today... (thanks 4 the great idea mommy.)

hey so this is raelyn, and i decided because i have nothing else to do i am going to do what my mom did. it looks really fun so here i go...

outside my window: its cloudy but the birds are chirping.

i am thinking: i am happy that i might go to tumalo next year.

i am wondering: what my homework is today.

i wish: i can trust God in everything and accomplish my hard situation right now. i am struggling.

i am thankful: for God, my family, friends, my house, my pets, etc.

i know: Jesus is working with me through this hard time and he won't ignore me, i know my family and friends only want the best of me, and i know that God planned all of this out before hand.

from the kitchen: mommy made really delicious cookies yesterday, we are also going to a party tonight for jared's golf.

around the house: ebay clothes everywhere, also towels. the kitchen is surprisingly farely clean.

from the schoolroom: jared is going to high school next year, me and rachelle are going to an online school but there is a possibility that i might go to tumalo.

i am wearing: red basketball shorts with a black tee shirt and a red shirt under. my socks are different colors... pink and blue.

i am creating: a great realationship with my friends that i haven't been close to all year anf a really close relationship with Jesus.

i am going: to do my homework, hopefully... i also want to jog today.

i am reading: the Bible (lots of different books about friends and family), i also want to start reading thr3e, by ted dekker.

i am praying: for a friend of mine, and praying and getting closer with the Lord through this hard time for me.

i am hoping: i get to go to tumalo, but i can't get my hopes too high up.

i am hearing: silence in my bedroom and birds chirping outside my window.

i am looking forward to: this summer, maybe starting swimming again, and maybe going to tumalo next year.

that was really fun to do. THANKS MOMMY. it helps you think about what you a going through today and everything like that. well i better go. thanks...

Raelyn.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Hello, So I haven't exactly been posting much lately, and I'm sorry but this whole end of the term stuff is starting to get to me. Way too many things to do, but I decided to do Juliene's lovely little thing for now. I'll be more apt to update people on me after Graduation in 2 weeks... :)

FOR TODAY....

Outside my window.... Well there isn't much of a window here at work, but the big shipping door is open and it is very sunny and beautiful and it makes me want to go swimming, too bad I don't even have time for that.

I am thinking.... That I really want to go swimming, lol :)

I am wondering.... When I'm going to do my spanish oral next week, and not too excited about it either

I wish..... It could be summer already so I wouldn't have to worry about this darn spanish oral, or any other kind of school work or finals for a while....

I am thankful.... for my Family and their support

I know..... I can get through these next three weeks if I concentrate on not stressing out and praying to God and talking to my family and my friend Jeri, since they seem to be the only ones that have the time to talk to me at times..

From the Kitchen.... Well my kitchen is pretty much closed cause I need to use up all my meals at school.... LOL... but I did cook ramen the other nite

Around the House.... It is a little messy and I'm supposed to start packing it up this weekend, hope I can get a lot done...

From the Schoolroom.... Only one week and one day of classes left, and finals week, which includes spanish oral and recital (those are the big tasks left)

I am wearing.... a brown skirt with brown flip flops and a lacey tank top.. and I'm still sweating...

I am creating.... excuses to procrastinate, and getting very good at it

I am going.... to sing in my final choir concert this evening, SAD DAY... I hope I don't cry at the last song, like I was about to in rehearsal today, and other people were

I am reading.... Not much that I want to read, in 2 weeks I'll be reading something much more enjoyable besides spanish or textbooks of some other kind

I am praying.... That I won't stress out too much and I'll do good on finals and such, and that those who are coming up to graduation will get here okay among other things

I am hearing.... a country radio station (ugh) and a couple people from work talking to each other

I am looking forward to.... Graduation and summertime where I will hopefully get to go visit my friend Jeri in Arizona and definitely see my new neice Wendy in person towards the end of August I think... an abundance of other things too, just get these darn 2 weeks done with!!

Bye now! I'll write again after graduation I think :)

Love ~ Alyssa <><

For Today.......

FOR TODAY....

Outside my window....The sun is brilliant, shiny and life-sustaining. I don't know if I would make it today if it was cloudy.
I am thinking.... I overreacted yesterday, but honestly couldn't help it. My reaction frightened me.
I am wondering.... Why?
I wish..... I could get everything accomplished that I set my mind to during the day.
I am thankful.... for my Savior and my family.
I know.....My Jesus loves me and that ALL things work together for GOOD for those who love Him. I know this in my heart, it's my brain having a hard time grasping it.

From the Kitchen.... Tonights meal isn't planned. great.....
Around the House.... Changed the girls room around, again. It should be easier for them to keep organized. We'll see.
From the Schoolroom.... Today I am optimistic about next year. Raelyn is still not on board, but we're praying.

I am wearing.... My robe and my hair is in a towel. Fresh and clean from the shower.
I am creating.... nothing good.
I am going.... to finish cleaning the bathroom today.
I am reading.... My Bible - Job. Bookends by Liz Curtis Higgs.
I am praying.... for comfort, peace, understanding, forgiveness, wisdom, strength. For Raelyn.

I am hoping.... my husband feels loved.
I am hearing.... the sweet sound of silence.
I am looking forward to.... everything. Worship choir practice, Hearing how Raelyns coast trip went, possibly enjoying a night away with some dear new friends, and dinner with an old group of friends on Saturday. Church on Sunday.

Juliene

Congratulations Jared!

Jared's golf team had their district tournament at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell on Monday and Tuesday, May 11 & 12. His team finished in 1st place with a commanding lead the entire tournament.

Jared finished in 6th place overall. His teammates are so talented and all 5 of them finished in the top 10. Three of his teammates finished with better scores than him. I believe they finished in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, then Jared in 6th and Jake in 10th.

Jared leaves for the state tournament this Saturday. Practice rounds on Sat and Sun with the tournament being held on May 18 & 19. Luckily for Redmond the state tournament is being held at the same course in Creswell as the district tournament.

Way to go Jared!

For Today....

I go this from a friends blog (I i changed a few of the beginning phrases to fit me) and have really enjoyed her posts and thought I'd do my own. Please feel free to copy and do one yourself.

FOR TODAY....

Outside my window.... the sky is grey and the ground is wet. Hints of Spring are around.
I am thinking.... that I get discouraged too easily and that I am too caught up in this life.
I am thankful for.... my husband.
I wish..... I wouldn't let my husband and kids down so often.

From the Kitchen.... Still enjoying our e-mealz journey. I believe on todays menu is a spaghetti casserole minus the onions, of course.
Around the House.... everything needs done. My handy-man hubby has been fixing the kitchen counter tile. I thank the Lord that Rod does these things himself.
From the Schoolroom.... I am saddened that the girls don't get to attend Central Christian next year and frightened by Jareds decision to attend Redmond High School.

I am wearing.... Sweats and a hoodie...and fur lined slippers. It's cold today.
I am creating.... nothing at the moment. Maybe I need to rediscover this side of myself.
I am going.... to tackle some daunting tasks today and quit procrastinating.
I am reading.... The Shack. The second time through is even better than the first. At least I can get through a page without needing a tissue.
I am praying.... for a friend from church who underwent a double mastectomy yesterday. For a rediscovered old friend who has her adopted daughters biological father wanting a visit. For my father-in-law who has to undergo a procedure next week. For my children and husband.

I am hoping.... that during the Womens Conference worship times this weekend that I can worship and not perform. Lord help me be comfortable onstage.
I am hearing.... my husband working hard. He deserves a break.
I am looking forward to.... this weekend. RCC Womens Mini-Conference on joy. We could all use some extra joy during these times.

One of my favorite things....warm, gooey, fresh-from-the-oven brownies. Delish.
Some plans for the remainder of the week.....chauffering kids, dishes, laundry, eBay, WII, worship music practice, womens conference.

pacemaker

Hi
I just wrote a blog and didn't get it posted so now I am trying again. I hate rewriting something I just wrote!!
Last week Lloyd had to wear a type of heart moniter for 48 hours and it showed that his heart stops often for as long as 2.8 seconds. The cardiologist thinks this is not good and so next Wednesday, May 6th he will put a pacemaker in Lloyd. Heather can probably answer any questions you might have as she has gone to the last 3 doctor's appointments with us and even taken notes. I figured that you all would want to know the latest with what is happening with him and the problems he has been having.
Marilyn
PS. It would sure be more interesting if more of you would take the time to jot something down on this blog.(I know I have been just as guilty of not contributing)

Spirit week!!!

Hello everybody, hope you are doing great. Anyways I wanted to tell you that we are having spirit week this week, and it is awesome. Today was crazy hair/class color day (i will post pics of want i looked like throughout the week at the end of the week.) Our color was orange. So everybody in our class was like covered in orange. Except like 5 people. Tomorrow is dress like your favorite star/ super hero day. i don't know what I am going to for that yet. Wednesday is pajama day!!!! i can't wait! I have always wanted to go to school in my pajamas! ._. Then Thursday is celebrate the 80's day. I have no idea what to do for that. Then last is Hawaiian day. And again I have no idea what to for that day. But what sucks is on top of spirit week is also S.A.T week. So our schedule is like totally messed up. Anyways I have to go now BYE!!!!

I hath returneth...

Well I hath returneth, but not for very long. I have a test tomorrow in my Ethics class... but I remembered I hadn't posted in a while since the first day of term I guess. So term is going okay for me. I got a 97 on my first group auditing test, so hopefully we will continue to do well. Umm I took my first test for my corporate income tax class tonite, didn't do as well as I hoped, but I do have another chance. Umm, I'm beginning to develop calluses for the guitar, at least I hope, but it's fun to play nonetheless.

On the bright side of things I did finish my capstone paper. The downside of things, my spanish teacher doesn't want me to translate it anymore, she wants me to do some heavy duty analysis on the songs and write that in Spanish. Which is not at all what I wanted to do, considering I'm not very good at analyzing things, I take things to literally I think. Oh well, I guess I have to try now.

I better get going so I can study, but I wanted to drop by and say hi and see how everybody was doing. So what did everybody do for Easter?? I know my parents were in New Mexico with Alan, Suzanne, Jacob, and Wendy.... and I'm pretty sure most people mighta went to Ben and Tia's for dinner. But anything else, Easter egg hunts, candy hunts, whatever? It'd be nice to hear from people, especially when I'm cornered off all by myself in this very cold Eastern part of the state where it tried to Snow today of all things.... Grr... Anyways, I'll talk to you all later I suppose, have a good rest of the week. :)

First Week of Spring Term...

I'm back again, and I did see some new blogs that were fun to read so maybe in a small way my idea is working, lol. So I hope everybody else hops on the bandwagon and starts giving small little updates if they can.

So I started my last term at Eastern yesterday, and I am soo glad! As of now I've had at least one class of all the classes I'm taking this term and I guess that it might be an enjoyable term, of course it could be a disaster too, so we hope its the first one. My auditing class is going to be a big group thing, so I hope I don't end up having to do all the work like I usually do in groups. Choir is the same ol, same ol, and so is voice lessons. Umm, Ethics is going to be my most boring class on the face of the earth, its going to be hard for me not to fall asleep, but I'm in the front row hoping to prevent that from happening. I had my first guitar class today, that was really fun. I now officially know how to play 3 chords on the guitar, its pretty impressive I know. And what was really exciting for me was the fact that I get to borrow a guitar from the school for the entire term, so I don't have to get one, unless I want one after the class, hehehe. :) Other than that I'm still working on my capstone paper, but got a paragraph written on it. And I haven't started my online corporate tax class yet but I've read the syllabus... lol

Other than that life is going pretty good for me, besides the crummy weather. It snowed today no less, and the wind is howling as we speak and rattling my windows. I miss my family and my doggie that I left home this term. My apartment is very quiet without Charlie. Well I better go and get started on some homework for classes tomorrow. I'll post another in a week or so. :)

Have a fantastic day! Talk to you laters!

Love ~ Alyssa <><

Golf......

As many of you know Jared is on Redmond High School's varsity golf team. They played their first league match yesterday in Salem. Apparantly Redmond dominates the CVC league in golf and continued to do so yesterday. They took first place with one of Jared's teammates taking firsts place overall.

In a varsity match they take 5 players and when all is said and done only four scores count. Jared tied for 11th (out of 35) but was the 5th place on his team with an 83. That gives you some idea of how talented this team is.

Here is a pic of him and his friend Jake going to a tournament a few days ago. Jared tied for 5th place (took 1st place on his team - although this one was a JV tournament that they needed Jared to fill in on) in that tournament (Crooked River Ranch).

Home

Alan is home!!!!!! After 28 and 1/2 hours of travel time with only 6 hours of sleep, he is finally home! Did you know that you have to go through security check points 4 times between Korea and El Paso??? How ridiculous. And to say the least Jacob did not want to go to sleep tonight. So he was super excited to be with daddy again!

On another note, baby is doing just fine. The doctor said that she will more than likely not be a 10 pounder like Jacob! That is a relief. But however, unless I say something, they are going to induce on the 1st. So we will see what happens.

Well goodnight all! We will talk again soon!

So, I've decided to post another blog on here cause its looking kind of lonely, and as a bonus, I actually have a moment to breathe from school and work and other La Grande issues like that. :)

First off I suppose that I should mention to anyone who is interested that I will be heading home to albany tomorrow evening. But of course I will be going to the coast with my parents friday morning so I really won't be available to get in touch with, if need be, until Tuesday for sure. I'm super duper excited to be coming home for a little over a week though, I need a break from school and La Grande for sure. But on the plus side, springtime is almost here, so La Grande won't be as bad, and I'll get to start wearing flip flops again, YAY!

Umm, what else can I say? Well whoever else is coming to my graduation in June and recital, I have the location set. It will be at the Presbyterian Church (because it comes at a great price, free, and the acoustics are pretty swell too). And I've decided that I want to have a barbecue at one of the parks afterwards instead of trying to fit everybody in a restaurant. Outside will be much more fun anyways.

Now I know this blog has become kind of like a ghost town, which is very sad, but I figure its because a lot of people are busy and well after you write one update its kind of hard to come up with something new and cool to say. So I've thought of something to spice things up a bit. How about once a week everybody posts something, whether its an interesting thing that happened to you in the week, a funny joke you heard, an encouraging verse you read, an interesting person you met, a cool picture you took or saw, whatever? I don't know if this'll work, but its the best that I can think of. So I'll start...

This week was finals week so really it wasn't all that exciting, but I did learn today in my Spanish final that Panama wasn't the first choice for the Panama Canal. The first option was Nicaragua, but the government wouldn't allow it, so Panama it became. I also got a joke yesterday which was quite entertaining in my mind. Why do leprauchans laugh when they run? .... Because the grass tickles their nuts... HEHEHE... Ok, well I think that about does it for my week besides finals and papers to write and work to attend, all the boring stuff.

So now its up to everybody sometime this week or next week to think of something fun to post for everybody to see. We'll see how well this works. And if you are having technical difficulties, umm call Juliene... hahaha... Good luck and I hope to see some fun posts soon :)

Love to All ~ Alyssa <><

Congratulations Rod!!!

ROD IS A BIG LOSER!!!
As most of you know Rod joined a "Biggest Loser" competition at one of our local athletic clubs in town. The final weigh-in was last night and he was the winner by far!! There was a male and female winner and out of those two he still won overall. He lost a total of 20% of his body weight. The next highest person they said was at 11% body weight loss. He was more thrilled that he met his goal of 50 pounds, than he was with the actual win.
When he signed up for the competition he was told the prize for the winner was $500 cash. Well.....that ended up not being the case. Both the male and female winners received $1000 gift cards to the athletic club. They sell things there, so we may end up buying some things to turn around and sell on ebay to turn some of that into liquid money. Last years winner only won a $500 gift card and said he hasn't used it all yet.
I am SO very proud of Rod for meeting his goal and sticking it out. He was so very good and rewarded himself with pizza last night. He deserved it! I'll try to get a pic of him and post it sometime. He is going to be the "poster boy" for the flyers and mailers for the next year. At Christmas Rod was wearing a size XXL and now even the size large stuff he has is almost too big!
Way to go Rod! We are so proud of you!

News from the Infirmary

Appears we are all on the mend. It has been nearly 3 weeks since the first fever struck.

Jared wins the award for the highest fever (103.8) and the least amount of complaining. Well.....All the kids did well not to complain.

Duncan, who joined our infirmary for a few days, didn't complain either. In fact he was all giggles when he would have a coughing attack. Hard to laugh and cough at the same time, but he managed it.

Raelyn wins the award for most missed days of school. I believe it was 4 days.

Rachelle wins the award for biggest pile of used tissues. Gross! I believe it was an actual WHOLE box of tissues.

Rod wins the award for MOST complaints!

I win the overall Best award, because I had to put up with all of this!

When all the kids were sick, Duncan included, in their varying stages of illness. Rod and I joked about how we needed cots to set up in the living room to tend to them all.

So now we are on the upswing, improving each and everyday. Yea!

Day starter :)

PSALMS 18: 1-2
I love you, O Lord, my strengh.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress
and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I
take refuge.

That verse,
is a wonderful day starter!!! So when I run into something bad today that doesn't go my way, I can just think about this verse and know that he is my strength, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. Reading the Bible in the morning or at night is great because you can think about it all day and it WILL help you. I can personally say the Bible has really helped me. I know longer fight with my sister (well I don't fight with her that much), I don't fight with my friends, and I want to hang out with my parents more! Before is started reading the Bible I was getting to the stage where I no longer want to hang out with my parents, but since I've been reading the Bible it's been opposite of that. Same with my sister and friends. Before I was reading the Bible, I was fighting with them a lot, but now I'm not! Well I better go, Bye!!!- Raelyn:):):)

Last BasketBall game

Hello everyone! Well on Thursday we had our last basketball game. It went VERY well. I'm not sure if we won or lost... there's a long story to that. I guess I have time, so I can tell you. Well we were VERY evenly matched. It ended up at the last minute it was 10 to 9. We were keeping the ball away from them, and when my friend Jessica had the ball, a girl went up and touched her and the referee called it a jump ball. He also gave the ball to the wrong team. It was only 1 referee, I don't know why. Maybe because North Lake is a VERY small town. Well anyways, they (North Lake) scored at the last 5 seconds. I felt really bad because I almost scored at the last second and it was really close to being in. So the score was 11 to 10 and we lost for about 5 minutes, then the referee and the scoring people had a talk, but they wouldn't give in. Finally the girl that went up even talked to the referee about it. So they deducted the 2 points North Lake made. So today at school half of us were saying we won, and half of us were saying we lost. I was so confused, I just said we tied, because we won and lost. Well I better get going. Thanks- Raelyn:)

I figured it out.

So I finally found the invite from the lambert clan and I can blogg away. For some reason the invite went to my junk mail. So Alyssa I'm not brain dead. Anyway now I just need to get Shari to add something! Ta Ta for now.....Sam

Lost family members.....

There are still several family members that have not signed up.....can some of you maybe get ahold of them for me. Maybe I don't have their correct email, maybe they just don't have time, I understand that. But I don't want them left out if it's just a matter of them not knowing about it. Those left to sign up are: Caleb, Michelle and Jared! I know my own kid.....I'll handle that one. Oh, Heather, I've lost Duncan's email so I haven't added him yet. I'll get to it this weekend when he's here.

Hello

Well, I am sorry for not writing sooner, but taking care of a three and an half year old is a lot of work! HAHAHA. But I just wanted everybody know that we are doing just fine and that the baby is doing great as well. Now it is not completely official on whether or not the baby is a girl. The ultra sound tech couldn't find anything that resembled male genetalia, so the best educated guess is that it is a girl. But to say the least we are just hoping that whether it be a boy or a girl that it comes out healthy and screaming! She sure is a kicker!

We are now down to 42 days before Alan comes home! YAY!!! Then we are down to 5 1/2 months before we go to England!!! Don't worry I plan on taking a lot of pics while we are there! (that is if I have the time!)

Work wise, everything is going good. I am still doing an eight hour shift. Since I am not on my feet all the time, there is no point in going to four hour shifts. Jacob is doing great... besides going into the refrigerator when he is not suppose to! He has been to all of my doctor appointments and is looking forward to having his little brother or sister. He has been a big part of this pregancy and he may not remember it now, but I think in the long run he will appreciate it. That and when the baby does come home he is not bombarded with the fact that there is a new little one around. But right now he absolutlely loves babies. He want's to see every baby that he comes accross, which I think is pretty cute. He had his first filling tosday on his teeth. He only has one cavity and he did absolutly wonderful about the whole procedure. He was definetly my big little man today!

As for Hobbs, we may have found one of two homes for him. There is one that has two boys and lots of land to run around in. There is the other that one of the guys that I kinda work with that wants a dog. He might even take him if his friend can't take him. However, I still need to hear from the other person first.

Other than that, not much else is going on. I hope that everybody is doing well and I will post again soon.

Laundry Soap......

So I'm trying an experiment. Well it's an experiment for me, others swear by it already.

I've made my own laundry soap!

I've heard about this for some time now and was never willing to try it, not being a hippie-type person and all. But.....this past year, every time I needed laundry soap and every time I purchased it, I was getting more and more irritated at the cost, even at Costco, especially for something that literally goes down the drain. So I bit the bullet and am trying it. I'll post the results of whether or not I like it and if it actually gets the clothes clean. My first load is in the washer as I type. If it works though, it will be a huge savings!

My initial start up cost was just over $18.00. This included buying a 2 gallon bucket with a lid. Some recipes (just type in "homemade laundry soap" on google) call for a bigger batch and a 5 or 10 gallon bucket. I decided to go for the smaller batch, who wants to be stuck with 10 gallons of goop if you end up hating it! Not me! Oh and by the way, the final product ends up looking like snot. Imagine a 10 gallon container of snot! Chunks and all.

The recipe is pretty basic: Borax, Washing Soda (not to be confused with Baking Soda) and Fels Naptha Bar soap. You can also add an essential oil if you don't like the non-smell (actually Fels Naptha smell) of the mix. I bought a lemon essential oil for $5.49 (this was included as part of my initial $18 cost). Some of the oils were very expensive (like $20!) so I went with a cheap one. Remember me? The cheap Queen!

If my math is correct and I it figured correctly that the Borax will make another 18 batches, the Fels Naptha is enough for 3 batches and so on, then the cost ends up being only .017 cents per load! That's not 17cents people that's 1.7cents. Amazing! Please, please let me like this.

So I hope that the snot chunks dissolve in the washer, my first batch is for a load of towels using hot water. I'll experiment later today with a cold water wash and hope it dissolves properly.

I'll post my results later, cause I know that ya'll are on the edge of your seat waiting!

Graduation and other stuff...

SO I've decided that its time for another post from me... Cause I'm that cool, lol :)

Well, not a lot has happened to me since my last post. Currently I'm watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition and I've already bawled my eyes out from their story, that usually doesn't happen till the end, lol... But I can sense it'll be a good one. :)

I guess I can announce that I will be ordering the grad announcements this week, but who knows when I'll get around to sending them. BUT, if you are planning on coming to my graduation, it's June 13th (thats a Saturday) at 10am in La Grande... And if you really want to my recital which'll be just me singing 9 songs in Spanish, thats going to be the 12th of June (Friday) at 3 in the afternoon. I don't know exactly where in La Grande it is yet, but I will have it in the announcement whenever I send them out... I'm planning on having my graduation "celebration" or "party" if you will, right after my recital on Friday (again, not known on the place yet)... So if you can come, thats great. If not, thats ok too... I'm not expecting Everybody to come cause it is 6 hours away...

However, I did have a question from Juliene about how many people can come and all that. As many as wants to come, it doesn't cost anything, and the stadium seating is first come first serve, so choose wisely on the time to come if you want a good seat... HAHA... Also, if you are planning on coming, major piece of advice for you is to wear sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe even bring an umbrella for shade, because I know from experience (I was in the audience last year) the sun will be in your eyes! And it gets pretty hot sitting up there... I get to be sitting underneath a canopy with my back to the sun, but thats one of the perks of being a graduate I guess. :)

One of the reasons I'm telling you the times and stuff before I send out the announcements is because if you are planning on coming I'm pretty sure the hotels and stuff here for that weekend fill up pretty fast... I would offer my apartment but I think my friend Sarah is going to be staying with me... If you want to know the best hotels I don't know the answer, but my parents have stayed in the Best Western most of the time and I think the Travelodge is the cheapest (I dunno about quality though)... There is a RV park too, I can't think of the name right now, but I think that my parents are going to be bringing their trailer up and staying there so they might have the info...

Well I think I've written enough. I'd like to say though that Raelyn is a trooper and I'm glad she's enjoying basketball and from what she's said she is prolly better than I ever was at basketball (I don't think I made more than maybe one basket my whole basketball career which was pretty long... lol). And since Alan and Suzanne haven't stepped up to the plate I just wanted to let everybody know if they don't that their daughter is due on April 1st and Alan will be there in New Mexico on the 26th of March. Also, if anybody knows of someone who wants a German Shephard, Alan and Suzanne have to give their dog, Hobbes, away so I'll throw that out there too. I'd like to add that my parents got a Wii and have been improving their bowling game as far as I hear... :)

So I am going now.. :) Love to all from the Cold of La Grande!!

Friday, February 6, 2009

Well, this was our day. We planned to go the senior potluck in Jefferson which is held once a month at the community center. I had a salad all made to take. Then we got a phone call from Ron and Dianne Pitts, friends from church wondering if we wanted to go to Elmer's with them for lunch and then go to the Home Show at the fairgrounds. That sounded good to us so we discarded the first plan. While at the restaurant we saw another couple who are usually at the potluck in Jefferson and I made this comment to them about them not going either . She said., "Oh. is that today? I thought it was the second Friday of the month." (To my embarrasment, I found out later when I looked at my calendar that I had the wrong day written down and there was no potluck today after all). When we went to the home show there were no cars in the parking lot and we found out that it didn't start until 3 o'clock--2 hours later! So the guys went to the mall to have coffee and Dianne and I went to the thrift store and spent money. Then we went to the mall to meet them and spent a little more money. At 3 we went back to the fairgounds and took in the homeshow.
Tonight Lloyd and I decided to watch a dvd that Reta Boyer had given me as a possibility of one to show at the Harvest Dinner and we couldn't get it to play on this new tv. Help, kids!!!!
Anyway, this is a sampling of our senior moments and what you all have to look forward to.
Mom

Rod's attempt @ blogging

Guess I have to join this 21st century family & try this blogging thing. Maybe my kids will actually listen to me if I type rather than speak?
For those of you who don't know.....I'm a big loser. I joined a local gym's contest for "The Biggest Loser". Started Jan 5th & ends March 2nd. Unlike the TV show, there are no weekly updates, so I have no idea if I stand a chance at winning the $1000 prize. ($1000 for the male winner & another $1000 for the female winner). There are 67 women & 25 men in the competition. If the TV show is any indicator, I am doing pretty good. The TV show is a "Couples" version, with one person from each couple being sent home for the 1st month to see if they can lose at home. When they came back, the averaged about 4% weight loss, with the highest percentage "loser" at 6%. In my first month, I lost 11%. The TV people are playing for $250,000, and that's all they lost? I'm only playing for $1000 & I beat 'em! 3 weeks & 3 days to go!
To change subjects.....Raelyn & Rachelle got their report cards last week. Both had all A's & a B. Of course, I am not satisfied with their B's, but they expected that (truthfully, they know I am pretty proud of them, B and all). Jared, I haven't seen your recent grades yet, but I am pretty happy with your efforts this year...so far (well, at least I THINK you are working when you are in your room. Or are you playing your PSP all the time?)
Well, my broccoli & cauliflower are about done, so gotta eat! See ya.

Update- on Raelyn :)

Hey!!! This is the first time I have posted on this blog!!! How is everyone??? I think this is a great idea!!!

Basketball

Well as you probably already know... I am on a basketball team. We are not doing so well, but only on the score boards!!! Not on the court!!! We recently had a game yesterday, against Culver. We lost 30 to 8. (But that doesn't matter.) I got to play SO much, because I had a VERY good game in Gilchrist. (I scored 4 points!!!) So there is usually 8 girls on the team, but that time there were 6. So NONE of us could foul out!!! Well unfortunately both of our point guards fouled out. I had to be point. It was VERY scary!!! Everyone would watch me come down the court with the ball!!! The good part is I didn't (and couldn't) call any plays because there was only 4 players! I did VERY good on that game. Every time I would get the ball, I would charge to the basket and try to make it. I was very close to getting every one of them!!! I got to shoot 4 free throws, because they would always foul me on defense. The first time, on my second free throw, I got a swish!!! It was awesome!!! On the second time I missed both, but... there was a lane violation. So I got another shot, and made, yet, another swish!!! I also had at least 20 to 25 steals!!! I tried 3 fast breaks, but didn't make any. I'm going to practice them for our next and final game, in North Lake.

School

Well you probably know that I started school this year. It is VERY fun and I love it!!! I could do without all the drama though. There is only 7 girls in our class, and you would think there is not going to be that much drama. But there is. Tons of it. Mostly jealousy and miscommunication. But we're getting over it. We're working on uniting and stopping everything. It's working. All the guys have no idea whats wrong with us, all FINALLY getting along. They also don't know what our little saying "GF" means. It means gossip fighters!!! Well I better get going, my parent's need the computer, Bye!!!-Rae:):):)

P.s. I love this blog... keep posting!!!-Raelyn :)

Raelyn's Basketball

I wasn't very fair to Raelyn's team in my earlier post, saying that they weren't very good. I could have worded it better and I am sorry, Raelyn. I don't want to hurt feelings. For those of you that don't know, her school is Central Christian.

So....they had two games already this week. They've lost both games, but they have really improved. Yesterday they played against Gilchrist (keep in mind that all their games are "away" games because they don't have a home gym). Anyway, the first time they played this team they lost 56-4. Yesterday they only lost 26-9! So, huge improvement! AND......Raelyn scored 4 of the points! Way to go girl!

Just checking to see if this is where I write if I wanted to say something to this family. I'm really enjoying reading what everyone else is saying.

More info.....

Yea! Some of you have already figured out how to post and all that goes with that. There is another feature that you can utilize, it's the "comment" feature. At the end of each person's post is a comment link that you can click to make a comment about that post. Everyone is also able to "view" these comments. Keep up the fun!!

Once you make a post you can click the little pencil icon at the bottom of the post to edit it, if you need to make some changes.

Alan and Suzanne.....let's see some pics of that little guy of yours!!

Changes?? Anyone that wants a background change or title change just let me know. Or anyone have a better pic to use as the front page picture? I'm set up as the "admin" but can grant these priviledges to anyone else also. So if you'd like to also be an "admin" let me know.

Also, this blog is open for all to view from the web. Whoever wants to view it, if they find it, can. Once everyone is logged on and accepted as an author, I'm thinking of changing it to private so only authors and people we invite can view it. This is just a good protection so we don't have to worry about putting any pictures and info out their for any wacko to come along and see it. What's everyones input on this??

So, if we decide to make it private, and you have someone that you might like to have read this blog, let me know and I can 'invite' them to be readers of the blog.

Any other questions??

Good idea Juliene - this could be fun...

Wow - it looks like even Mom has already figured out how to get signed in...

I don't know if I'm very good at creating posts - but I sure like reading them. :)

hmm..the Bose house is crazy and busy like usual - well, I guess today wasn't really busy - I took a 3 hour nap and watched the second half of the Super Bowl. (because what I really should have been doing was going in to work to catch stuff up before month end closing tomorrow - but hey, I can always go to work at 4am!). Byron stopped at the closest TV when he got off work (at Mom&Dad's) and got to see Arizona make a touchdown to take the lead - and then to lose. Boo Hoo.

Duncan is playing basketball right now - He's had 3 games, and his team has won all of them by large margins. Last year it was the other way around (different league) with all of their games lost by large margins - I wish it could be somewhere in the middle - close games are much more fun to watch!

We are planning to vacation in central Oregon at Sun River and Eagle Crest from Feb 13 - 22. I am SOOO looking forward to a break from real life. I'm sure it's much more relaxing over there in central Oregon - that's why Rod & Juliene always are so relaxed, right? :)

Well - I'm sure I'll be checking the blog frequently to see what everyone's up to - give me a post to read! :)

Thanks for setting it up Rachelle! (What would we do without the young computer geniuses?) -hmm...is that how you spell geniuses? Doesn't look right :)

off to do more procrastinating...

Update for Alyssa :)

Hey everybody... This was a cool idea, I'm diggin it... lol. I just got back from seeing the movie Bride Wars, reccommended highly to anyone who wants to see it, it is hilarious and very cute at the same time. Even some of the men might like it...

So I just wanted to start out by giving you all an update what is happening my way... La Grande is very cold nowadays and still working on melting snow away, but the roads are clear which is always nice. I actually just finished the last of 2 choir concerts this evening (way to go Rachelle for pursuing choir by the way). It was a super exciting concert because it was completely choreographed. We flew someone up from Los Angeles to choreograph it and we've been working hard at it for the last 2 weeks. I was going to mention it at Christmas but I figured people didn't have the time and I didn't want it to be in the middle of a blizzard... But if I do get a DVD of it I'll be sure and show it to anybody who wants to see it.

Also I'd like to say, since I haven't officially mentioned it that I know of (sorry about that, super busy up here), I did get accepted into the Masters of Accounting Program at U of O for next year. I'll apologize to all the Beaver fans but its only for one year and its OSU's problem for not having the program.

As far as anything else goes, I'm just still working hard at school and work and stuff... Getting major cases of "senioritis" this term, so the procrastination is working at its best but I'm managing just the same. I will be graduating June 13, 2009 (That would be a Saturday) at 10am. I'll also be sending out announcements but I just got the order form friday and I won't be ordering them until the 10th or 11th of February but you will be getting one for sure. And if you'd like to hear me sing, I will be having my senior "recital" on the 12th of June, but haven't decided on the time yet. I want to do it at 3pm, but who knows exactly yet...

Well I better get to bed, I gotta do laundry tomorrow and go to work and "watch" the Superbowl... lol... But I'll for sure keep posting to this and hope everybody else does too...

Love to all! ~ Alyssa <><

Our Family

Hello again,

Just a quick update on our family. In case you were wondering what's going on with us!

Rod - working both at Schlosser and at home on eBay. He is currently busy "working" on a local biggest loser competition. He has been at it for a few weeks and is doing AWESOME! We won't give you all the details, not till he wins anyway!

Juliene - working at home. Well.......sorry I'm boring.

Jared - just recently turned 16. It's January and he is out golfing today. The high school golf team starts practicing next week. He just finished his first semester of his sophomore year of high school and has a great GPA. He is taking Mandarin for his foreign language, he always has to be different! No spanish for him!

Rachelle - first year of "real" school. Also just recently received a report card. All A's and one B. She is doing amazing in school and we are so proud of her. She is part of the junior high choir and we just heard them for the first time the other night and they are really, really good! Even better than the high school choir.

Raelyn - again first year of school. Same grade report as Rachelle. She is playing junior high basketball with her school. They are not doing very well, (sorry sweetie!). They have lost all their games and the most they've scored in a game is 10. But they are having fun and are actually really improving!

Okay that's all about us for now,

Juliene

Welcome

Hello All,

This is the blog that I have talked with several of you about. Let's see if this works to keep in touch in a fun, fun way. All family members with an email address are going to be set up as an "author" on this blog. Please post fun family pictures of vacations, memorable events or even just silly things you'd like to share.

Any questions? I'm sure I'll have them too. Rachelle was the kind one that set this up for me today so we could get started. Thank you Rachelle!
