News from the Infirmary

Appears we are all on the mend. It has been nearly 3 weeks since the first fever struck.

Jared wins the award for the highest fever (103.8) and the least amount of complaining. Well.....All the kids did well not to complain.

Duncan, who joined our infirmary for a few days, didn't complain either. In fact he was all giggles when he would have a coughing attack. Hard to laugh and cough at the same time, but he managed it.

Raelyn wins the award for most missed days of school. I believe it was 4 days.

Rachelle wins the award for biggest pile of used tissues. Gross! I believe it was an actual WHOLE box of tissues.

Rod wins the award for MOST complaints!

I win the overall Best award, because I had to put up with all of this!

When all the kids were sick, Duncan included, in their varying stages of illness. Rod and I joked about how we needed cots to set up in the living room to tend to them all.

So now we are on the upswing, improving each and everyday. Yea!

Day starter :)

PSALMS 18: 1-2
I love you, O Lord, my strengh.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress
and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I
take refuge.

That verse,
is a wonderful day starter!!! So when I run into something bad today that doesn't go my way, I can just think about this verse and know that he is my strength, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. Reading the Bible in the morning or at night is great because you can think about it all day and it WILL help you. I can personally say the Bible has really helped me. I know longer fight with my sister (well I don't fight with her that much), I don't fight with my friends, and I want to hang out with my parents more! Before is started reading the Bible I was getting to the stage where I no longer want to hang out with my parents, but since I've been reading the Bible it's been opposite of that. Same with my sister and friends. Before I was reading the Bible, I was fighting with them a lot, but now I'm not! Well I better go, Bye!!!- Raelyn:):):)

Last BasketBall game

Hello everyone! Well on Thursday we had our last basketball game. It went VERY well. I'm not sure if we won or lost... there's a long story to that. I guess I have time, so I can tell you. Well we were VERY evenly matched. It ended up at the last minute it was 10 to 9. We were keeping the ball away from them, and when my friend Jessica had the ball, a girl went up and touched her and the referee called it a jump ball. He also gave the ball to the wrong team. It was only 1 referee, I don't know why. Maybe because North Lake is a VERY small town. Well anyways, they (North Lake) scored at the last 5 seconds. I felt really bad because I almost scored at the last second and it was really close to being in. So the score was 11 to 10 and we lost for about 5 minutes, then the referee and the scoring people had a talk, but they wouldn't give in. Finally the girl that went up even talked to the referee about it. So they deducted the 2 points North Lake made. So today at school half of us were saying we won, and half of us were saying we lost. I was so confused, I just said we tied, because we won and lost. Well I better get going. Thanks- Raelyn:)

I figured it out.

So I finally found the invite from the lambert clan and I can blogg away. For some reason the invite went to my junk mail. So Alyssa I'm not brain dead. Anyway now I just need to get Shari to add something! Ta Ta for now.....Sam

Lost family members.....

There are still several family members that have not signed up.....can some of you maybe get ahold of them for me. Maybe I don't have their correct email, maybe they just don't have time, I understand that. But I don't want them left out if it's just a matter of them not knowing about it. Those left to sign up are: Caleb, Michelle and Jared! I know my own kid.....I'll handle that one. Oh, Heather, I've lost Duncan's email so I haven't added him yet. I'll get to it this weekend when he's here.

Hello

Well, I am sorry for not writing sooner, but taking care of a three and an half year old is a lot of work! HAHAHA. But I just wanted everybody know that we are doing just fine and that the baby is doing great as well. Now it is not completely official on whether or not the baby is a girl. The ultra sound tech couldn't find anything that resembled male genetalia, so the best educated guess is that it is a girl. But to say the least we are just hoping that whether it be a boy or a girl that it comes out healthy and screaming! She sure is a kicker!

We are now down to 42 days before Alan comes home! YAY!!! Then we are down to 5 1/2 months before we go to England!!! Don't worry I plan on taking a lot of pics while we are there! (that is if I have the time!)

Work wise, everything is going good. I am still doing an eight hour shift. Since I am not on my feet all the time, there is no point in going to four hour shifts. Jacob is doing great... besides going into the refrigerator when he is not suppose to! He has been to all of my doctor appointments and is looking forward to having his little brother or sister. He has been a big part of this pregancy and he may not remember it now, but I think in the long run he will appreciate it. That and when the baby does come home he is not bombarded with the fact that there is a new little one around. But right now he absolutlely loves babies. He want's to see every baby that he comes accross, which I think is pretty cute. He had his first filling tosday on his teeth. He only has one cavity and he did absolutly wonderful about the whole procedure. He was definetly my big little man today!

As for Hobbs, we may have found one of two homes for him. There is one that has two boys and lots of land to run around in. There is the other that one of the guys that I kinda work with that wants a dog. He might even take him if his friend can't take him. However, I still need to hear from the other person first.

Other than that, not much else is going on. I hope that everybody is doing well and I will post again soon.

Laundry Soap......

So I'm trying an experiment. Well it's an experiment for me, others swear by it already.

I've made my own laundry soap!

I've heard about this for some time now and was never willing to try it, not being a hippie-type person and all. But.....this past year, every time I needed laundry soap and every time I purchased it, I was getting more and more irritated at the cost, even at Costco, especially for something that literally goes down the drain. So I bit the bullet and am trying it. I'll post the results of whether or not I like it and if it actually gets the clothes clean. My first load is in the washer as I type. If it works though, it will be a huge savings!

My initial start up cost was just over $18.00. This included buying a 2 gallon bucket with a lid. Some recipes (just type in "homemade laundry soap" on google) call for a bigger batch and a 5 or 10 gallon bucket. I decided to go for the smaller batch, who wants to be stuck with 10 gallons of goop if you end up hating it! Not me! Oh and by the way, the final product ends up looking like snot. Imagine a 10 gallon container of snot! Chunks and all.

The recipe is pretty basic: Borax, Washing Soda (not to be confused with Baking Soda) and Fels Naptha Bar soap. You can also add an essential oil if you don't like the non-smell (actually Fels Naptha smell) of the mix. I bought a lemon essential oil for $5.49 (this was included as part of my initial $18 cost). Some of the oils were very expensive (like $20!) so I went with a cheap one. Remember me? The cheap Queen!

If my math is correct and I it figured correctly that the Borax will make another 18 batches, the Fels Naptha is enough for 3 batches and so on, then the cost ends up being only .017 cents per load! That's not 17cents people that's 1.7cents. Amazing! Please, please let me like this.

So I hope that the snot chunks dissolve in the washer, my first batch is for a load of towels using hot water. I'll experiment later today with a cold water wash and hope it dissolves properly.

I'll post my results later, cause I know that ya'll are on the edge of your seat waiting!

Graduation and other stuff...

SO I've decided that its time for another post from me... Cause I'm that cool, lol :)

Well, not a lot has happened to me since my last post. Currently I'm watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition and I've already bawled my eyes out from their story, that usually doesn't happen till the end, lol... But I can sense it'll be a good one. :)

I guess I can announce that I will be ordering the grad announcements this week, but who knows when I'll get around to sending them. BUT, if you are planning on coming to my graduation, it's June 13th (thats a Saturday) at 10am in La Grande... And if you really want to my recital which'll be just me singing 9 songs in Spanish, thats going to be the 12th of June (Friday) at 3 in the afternoon. I don't know exactly where in La Grande it is yet, but I will have it in the announcement whenever I send them out... I'm planning on having my graduation "celebration" or "party" if you will, right after my recital on Friday (again, not known on the place yet)... So if you can come, thats great. If not, thats ok too... I'm not expecting Everybody to come cause it is 6 hours away...

However, I did have a question from Juliene about how many people can come and all that. As many as wants to come, it doesn't cost anything, and the stadium seating is first come first serve, so choose wisely on the time to come if you want a good seat... HAHA... Also, if you are planning on coming, major piece of advice for you is to wear sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe even bring an umbrella for shade, because I know from experience (I was in the audience last year) the sun will be in your eyes! And it gets pretty hot sitting up there... I get to be sitting underneath a canopy with my back to the sun, but thats one of the perks of being a graduate I guess. :)

One of the reasons I'm telling you the times and stuff before I send out the announcements is because if you are planning on coming I'm pretty sure the hotels and stuff here for that weekend fill up pretty fast... I would offer my apartment but I think my friend Sarah is going to be staying with me... If you want to know the best hotels I don't know the answer, but my parents have stayed in the Best Western most of the time and I think the Travelodge is the cheapest (I dunno about quality though)... There is a RV park too, I can't think of the name right now, but I think that my parents are going to be bringing their trailer up and staying there so they might have the info...

Well I think I've written enough. I'd like to say though that Raelyn is a trooper and I'm glad she's enjoying basketball and from what she's said she is prolly better than I ever was at basketball (I don't think I made more than maybe one basket my whole basketball career which was pretty long... lol). And since Alan and Suzanne haven't stepped up to the plate I just wanted to let everybody know if they don't that their daughter is due on April 1st and Alan will be there in New Mexico on the 26th of March. Also, if anybody knows of someone who wants a German Shephard, Alan and Suzanne have to give their dog, Hobbes, away so I'll throw that out there too. I'd like to add that my parents got a Wii and have been improving their bowling game as far as I hear... :)

So I am going now.. :) Love to all from the Cold of La Grande!!

Friday, February 6, 2009

Well, this was our day. We planned to go the senior potluck in Jefferson which is held once a month at the community center. I had a salad all made to take. Then we got a phone call from Ron and Dianne Pitts, friends from church wondering if we wanted to go to Elmer's with them for lunch and then go to the Home Show at the fairgrounds. That sounded good to us so we discarded the first plan. While at the restaurant we saw another couple who are usually at the potluck in Jefferson and I made this comment to them about them not going either . She said., "Oh. is that today? I thought it was the second Friday of the month." (To my embarrasment, I found out later when I looked at my calendar that I had the wrong day written down and there was no potluck today after all). When we went to the home show there were no cars in the parking lot and we found out that it didn't start until 3 o'clock--2 hours later! So the guys went to the mall to have coffee and Dianne and I went to the thrift store and spent money. Then we went to the mall to meet them and spent a little more money. At 3 we went back to the fairgounds and took in the homeshow.
Tonight Lloyd and I decided to watch a dvd that Reta Boyer had given me as a possibility of one to show at the Harvest Dinner and we couldn't get it to play on this new tv. Help, kids!!!!
Anyway, this is a sampling of our senior moments and what you all have to look forward to.

Rod's attempt @ blogging

Guess I have to join this 21st century family & try this blogging thing. Maybe my kids will actually listen to me if I type rather than speak?
For those of you who don't know.....I'm a big loser. I joined a local gym's contest for "The Biggest Loser". Started Jan 5th & ends March 2nd. Unlike the TV show, there are no weekly updates, so I have no idea if I stand a chance at winning the $1000 prize. ($1000 for the male winner & another $1000 for the female winner). There are 67 women & 25 men in the competition. If the TV show is any indicator, I am doing pretty good. The TV show is a "Couples" version, with one person from each couple being sent home for the 1st month to see if they can lose at home. When they came back, the averaged about 4% weight loss, with the highest percentage "loser" at 6%. In my first month, I lost 11%. The TV people are playing for $250,000, and that's all they lost? I'm only playing for $1000 & I beat 'em! 3 weeks & 3 days to go!
To change subjects.....Raelyn & Rachelle got their report cards last week. Both had all A's & a B. Of course, I am not satisfied with their B's, but they expected that (truthfully, they know I am pretty proud of them, B and all). Jared, I haven't seen your recent grades yet, but I am pretty happy with your efforts this year...so far (well, at least I THINK you are working when you are in your room. Or are you playing your PSP all the time?)
Well, my broccoli & cauliflower are about done, so gotta eat! See ya.

Update- on Raelyn :)

Hey!!! This is the first time I have posted on this blog!!! How is everyone??? I think this is a great idea!!!

Basketball

Well as you probably already know... I am on a basketball team. We are not doing so well, but only on the score boards!!! Not on the court!!! We recently had a game yesterday, against Culver. We lost 30 to 8. (But that doesn't matter.) I got to play SO much, because I had a VERY good game in Gilchrist. (I scored 4 points!!!) So there is usually 8 girls on the team, but that time there were 6. So NONE of us could foul out!!! Well unfortunately both of our point guards fouled out. I had to be point. It was VERY scary!!! Everyone would watch me come down the court with the ball!!! The good part is I didn't (and couldn't) call any plays because there was only 4 players! I did VERY good on that game. Every time I would get the ball, I would charge to the basket and try to make it. I was very close to getting every one of them!!! I got to shoot 4 free throws, because they would always foul me on defense. The first time, on my second free throw, I got a swish!!! It was awesome!!! On the second time I missed both, but... there was a lane violation. So I got another shot, and made, yet, another swish!!! I also had at least 20 to 25 steals!!! I tried 3 fast breaks, but didn't make any. I'm going to practice them for our next and final game, in North Lake.

School

Well you probably know that I started school this year. It is VERY fun and I love it!!! I could do without all the drama though. There is only 7 girls in our class, and you would think there is not going to be that much drama. But there is. Tons of it. Mostly jealousy and miscommunication. But we're getting over it. We're working on uniting and stopping everything. It's working. All the guys have no idea whats wrong with us, all FINALLY getting along. They also don't know what our little saying "GF" means. It means gossip fighters!!! Well I better get going, my parent's need the computer, Bye!!!-Rae:):):)

P.s. I love this blog... keep posting!!!-Raelyn :)

Raelyn's Basketball

I wasn't very fair to Raelyn's team in my earlier post, saying that they weren't very good. I could have worded it better and I am sorry, Raelyn. I don't want to hurt feelings. For those of you that don't know, her school is Central Christian.

So....they had two games already this week. They've lost both games, but they have really improved. Yesterday they played against Gilchrist (keep in mind that all their games are "away" games because they don't have a home gym). Anyway, the first time they played this team they lost 56-4. Yesterday they only lost 26-9! So, huge improvement! AND......Raelyn scored 4 of the points! Way to go girl!

Just checking to see if this is where I write if I wanted to say something to this family. I'm really enjoying reading what everyone else is saying.

More info.....

Yea! Some of you have already figured out how to post and all that goes with that. There is another feature that you can utilize, it's the "comment" feature. At the end of each person's post is a comment link that you can click to make a comment about that post. Everyone is also able to "view" these comments. Keep up the fun!!

Once you make a post you can click the little pencil icon at the bottom of the post to edit it, if you need to make some changes.

Alan and Suzanne.....let's see some pics of that little guy of yours!!

Changes?? Anyone that wants a background change or title change just let me know. Or anyone have a better pic to use as the front page picture? I'm set up as the "admin" but can grant these priviledges to anyone else also. So if you'd like to also be an "admin" let me know.

Also, this blog is open for all to view from the web. Whoever wants to view it, if they find it, can. Once everyone is logged on and accepted as an author, I'm thinking of changing it to private so only authors and people we invite can view it. This is just a good protection so we don't have to worry about putting any pictures and info out their for any wacko to come along and see it. What's everyones input on this??

So, if we decide to make it private, and you have someone that you might like to have read this blog, let me know and I can 'invite' them to be readers of the blog.

Any other questions??

February Birthdays

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Good idea Juliene - this could be fun...

Wow - it looks like even Mom has already figured out how to get signed in...

I don't know if I'm very good at creating posts - but I sure like reading them. :)

hmm..the Bose house is crazy and busy like usual - well, I guess today wasn't really busy - I took a 3 hour nap and watched the second half of the Super Bowl. (because what I really should have been doing was going in to work to catch stuff up before month end closing tomorrow - but hey, I can always go to work at 4am!). Byron stopped at the closest TV when he got off work (at Mom&Dad's) and got to see Arizona make a touchdown to take the lead - and then to lose. Boo Hoo.

Duncan is playing basketball right now - He's had 3 games, and his team has won all of them by large margins. Last year it was the other way around (different league) with all of their games lost by large margins - I wish it could be somewhere in the middle - close games are much more fun to watch!

We are planning to vacation in central Oregon at Sun River and Eagle Crest from Feb 13 - 22. I am SOOO looking forward to a break from real life. I'm sure it's much more relaxing over there in central Oregon - that's why Rod & Juliene always are so relaxed, right? :)

Well - I'm sure I'll be checking the blog frequently to see what everyone's up to - give me a post to read! :)

Thanks for setting it up Rachelle! (What would we do without the young computer geniuses?) -hmm...is that how you spell geniuses? Doesn't look right :)

off to do more procrastinating...
